Be Prepared!

Be Prepared!

September is Preparedness Month! This year we’re focusing on “Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can.” It’s important for you and your family to be ready for potential emergencies in your home and community. Preview Properties encourages homeowners and renters to commit to making a family emergency readiness plan. One way you can be prepared for any disaster is to have an emergency supply kit ready that includes:

  • Water! You should have at least one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days to be used for drinking and sanitation.
  • Food! Make sure to have at least three-days worth of nonperishable food. Make sure it’s food that your family will eat and avoid foods that will make you thirsty.
  • NOAA Weather Radio that is battery powered and extra batteries
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • First Aid Kit!
  • Whistle
  • Local Maps
  • Cell phone with charging cord and a fully charged battery pack or solar charger
  • Moist towelettes, garbage bags, and plastic ties for personal sanitation and clean up.

Store your emergency kit in a sealed, portable container in case you have have to leave your home. Keep it in a designated, easy-to-access location and make sure every member of your household knows where it is located.
